The Amazing Role of Water and the Surprising Ways to Consume It

Sep 06, 2023

Water is important for survival, cellular function, nutrient transport, temperature regulation, joint lubrication, digestion, detoxification, cognitive function, skin health and weight management.

I always start my day with 2 glasses of water. I am so conditioned for it, not doing so just doesn’t feel right; and it leaves me feeling parched.

Your body can only absorb about 1L of water per hour. So, drinking up to 1L in the first hour of waking up will hydrate your body and help you start your day in optimal health.

Here are some amazing aspects of water and creative ways to consume it:

1. Hydration: Water is essential for overall health. It helps regulate body temperature, aids digestion, and transports nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.

2. Weight Management: Drinking water before meals can help control appetite, potentially aiding in weight loss.

3. Skin Health: Proper hydration can improve skin elasticity and complexion, reducing the risk of dryness and wrinkles.

4. Caffeine-Free Teas: Herbal teas like chamomile and peppermint provide hydration without caffeine and offer various health benefits.

5. Infused Water: Add slices of fruits, herbs, or cucumber to your water for a refreshing twist and added nutrients.

6. Coconut Water: It's a natural electrolyte-rich beverage that can help rehydrate after exercise.

7. Water-Rich Foods: Consume fruits and vegetables with high water content, like watermelon and cucumber.

8. Sparkling Water: Carbonated water can be a fun alternative to plain water, but be mindful of added sugars or artificial flavours in some brands.

9. Hydration Apps: Use apps to track and remind you to drink water regularly, ensuring you meet your daily needs.

10. Hydrogen Water: Some claim that hydrogen-infused water has antioxidant properties, but research is ongoing in this area.

Remember that staying hydrated is essential, but individual water needs vary. Listen to your body and adapt your water intake accordingly.
